Our Graduate Assessment Event 2021
2 July 2021
Between the 31st of June and 1st of July, Stirling Dynamics hosted two graduate assessment days. These assessment days are part of the company’s Graduate Scheme selection process, and we are looking forward to welcoming two new graduates this September. The successful candidates will both take part in four six-month rotations to give them the experience of our key engineering areas and ensure they have a thorough understanding of the business.
In normal circumstances, we would welcome the candidates into the office for their assessment day. However, due to ongoing restrictions, the assessments were conducted via Microsoft Teams instead. On the assessments, HR Manager, Natasha Storey said: ‘The assessments are very much a two-way process, so whilst we want to get to know the candidates and assess their abilities, it’s also really important that the candidates get a sense of the Stirling Dynamics culture and can speak to employees from different parts of the business. We have a long-term approach to hiring new employees and want the graduates to stay with us as long as possible, so it’s really important that they see themselves progressing in their careers with us. As we couldn’t invite the candidates in for a cup of tea, we decided to bring the tea and biscuits to them along with a Stirling branded mug, and made sure to create an open and welcoming environment so they could feel comfortable to ask any questions they had.”
Each graduate assessment day started with a welcome session with the HR Manager and Engineering Director. Here, the candidates were able to learn more about what they could expect from the graduate scheme, a bit about Stirling Dynamics’ history and the company’s engineering capabilities. As part of the assessment, each candidate had a 30-minute interview and gave a 30-minute presentation, followed by Q&A. We also invited the candidates to an informal networking session with some of our current employees.
It has been great speaking with all of the candidates this week, and we look forward to welcoming two new graduates to the team in September.
