This Sunday a number of Stirling staff will be heading to the Baltic Wharf in Bristol City Harbourside to take part in the annual Bristol Rotary Dragon Boat Festival (DBF). This is the 16th DBF and the first-time Stirling has entered the event. The team boat is called the Stirling Pearl to commemorate our 30th Anniversary year.
The DBF is a full day’s event with up to 36 teams competing in heats, semi-finals and a grand finale. The Stirling team have entered this race to help raise funds for a local charity “The Southmead Hospital Charity for Prostate Cancer”. The money raised will help to train surgeons and buy vital new equipment, whilst also funding diagnostics and treatments.
Commenting on Stirling’s participation at the festival, Stirling’s HR Manager, Hollie Gibson said: “We want to encourage a sociable, fun team spirit, and events like these are the perfect way of fostering that – with a little competitiveness thrown in. As a Company, we have been fundraising for the charity nominated by the event organisers. To raise money, we have eaten lots of cake, held a raffle with locally donated prizes and have plenty of other fundraisers planned, all to achieve our target of £1,000. Mostly, we want our employees to relax and have a great day out whilst doing something valuable for local charities.”
If you would like to show your support for our crew, we will be in Heat 2 starting at 10:15. If you’re interested in donating to this cause all donations can be made via our Virgin Money Giving Account
